SLL Divisions

Little league age is determined by the child's birthday on August 31st of the coming year.  In the fall, we age players up to prepare them for Spring.  The system will only give you options appropriate for your birthdate.

Teeball

League Age: 4 and 5 Year Olds
Tee Ball is for boys and girls who want to learn the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, fielding, sportsmanship and teamwork. A softer baseball is used during practices and games. In Tee Ball, players learn how to hit a ball off a batting tee, running the bases and learning what the positions on the field are called. In our league's tee-ball program, players hit a ball off a batting tee to learn proper hitting mechanics for the first few games of the season. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching.

The primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork, therefore no scores or standings are kept. Rosters may be composed of between 7-10 players, but our league typically has rosters in the 7-8 range. Practices are held once per week for one hour, with games on Saturdays.

We will not know the practice day or time until registration closes and we know how many teams we have and who is coaching.

PeeWee 1
League Age: 5 and 6 years old
PeeWee 1 is for boys and girls still learning the fundamentals of throwing, hitting, fielding, sportsmanship and teamwork. We use a pitching machine in this division.   In PW1, all players are in the field on defense and all players bat every inning.  No players will strike out or can be put out at base.  Batters will be given 5 pitches and if unable to hit one, the coach will throw ball into field and batter will advance to 1st base.  Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The primary goals of PW1 are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork, therefore no scores or standings are kept.

Rosters may be composed of between 7-12 players, but our league typically has rosters in the 8-9 range. PeeWee 2
League Age: 6 and 7 years old
PeeWee 2 is a step up from peewee 1 and a little more competitive.  A pitching machine is still used in this division but players can strike out and be put out at base.   Batters will be given 5 pitches, with three swinging strikes.  Players in field will play positions and will be taught to throw runners out.

The primary goals of PW2 are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. score is kept in this league, but no league standings are kept. Rosters may be composed of between 7-12 players, but our league typically has rosters in the 9-11 range.

Practices are held once per week for one hour, with games on Saturdays.
